MUNDY POND
By ROGER MAUNDER
Mundy
Pond is a coming-of-age story about
young Gordie MacAllister that’s set
in Newfoundland in the late 1970’s.
Gordie and Jimmy, best friends, find
themselves at a turning point in
their lives in the summer of 1978
when a whole series of new things
are introduced to them. It is a
time when they both realize that
things aren’t always fun and games.
Jimmy has been accustomed to a
brutal, alcoholic father and Gordie
has some heavy issues creeping into
his sheltered life such as his
mother’s cancer and his parent’s
separation. Through their lost
innocence, an understanding is
gained.
