| Lillian Whelan
Born in Newfoundland, Lillian's art work
reflects a distinct flavor of her homeland, and her rural upbringing is
evidenced in many of her paintings.
Lillian's childhood years in rural Newfoundland instilled in her an
awareness and appreciation of Mother Nature. The naturalness and
simplicity of her surroundings are portrayed in her true to life scenes,
while her use of color creates a calmness and feeling of peace that
draws a personal connection from the viewer.
Attending the NF College of Art & Design allowed Lillian to experiment
with many different art forms, which included weaving, rug hooking, and
crewel embroidery and needle arts. However, her true love is painting
where she can escape into a world of her own - a handy retreat while she
raised four children.
