| Ken Power
Ken
was born in Toronto, Ontario on June 6, 1972, to parents Ted Power of
North River, NF and Verna Mouland of Musgrave Harbour, NF. Settling back
home in Newfoundland at age two, Ken was raised in Upper Gullies,
Conception Bay South, the eldest of three children. As a child, he
always had an interest in drawing and demonstrated artistic talent at a
young age. Inspired by his father who also enjoys painting, Ken began
painting acrylics as a hobby at age 23. After pursuing interests in
various other fields, Ken began painting professionally in January of
1997, with his medium of choice being watercolor.
As a self taught artist,
Ken has an original style that captures the beauty of Newfoundland
scenery with extraordinary realism. Residing in Kelligrews, NF with his
wife, Lisa (Phillips, R.N.) and their children Andrew and Emma, Ken; a
full time father, works everyday from a home studio. He also teaches a
beginners course in watercolor at College of the North Atlantic in Seal
Cove.
Ken's collection of
prints can be viewed in various galleries throughout Newfoundland as
well as many other parts of Canada. His original works consist mainly of
portraits, corporate and private commissions.
